No new projects

I go totally nuts when I don't have a project to work on. I'm just knitting a basic garter stitch scarf for teacher gifts (I needed 2 and I'm on the 2nd). They are nothing fancy, just a bulky yarn with fun fur...they do look pretty though and I'm sure the teacher's will love them. I had to make 5 of them but couldn't finish before christmas, so I'm doing them now.

I found out a couple of weeks ago that I'm pregnant with number 7! I decided yesterday that I'm going to knit this baby his/her baptism gown. I have a basic pattern for a top that I modify to make dresses, different type of tops, etc...the possibilities are endless. It's going to look somewhat like the little dress I made in my last post. Simple, yet beautiful. I just need to find some really nice white yarn, or I might just make it out of organic merino in natural, as I already have a sweater made out of that same yarn. I don't know, I have some time...or so I think LOLOL. I just might have to get started soon.

Until next time.....Knit On!

Dress and Longies

This is the fastest outfit I ever knit in my entire life. It took a total of 2.5 days. This outfit is for a gal I post with on a message board...I told her when she was pregnant that I would knit her a pair of longies out of organic merino wool, as she cloth diapers. Well, I never got around to it, and before I know it, she has the baby...a girl! I was thrilled as I had this cute brown/pink yarn that I dyed, so I made legging type longies. I then knit this little dress and dyed it brown to go with the leggings. I might embroider or duplicate stitch something on it, but I'm not sure.

Finally scarf pictures

I spent so much time knitting the scarves, I finally got the pictures after I was all finished. I had to dye 4 of them, and they came out so pretty. I had to over dye one, but that was not a big deal...there was just too much unevenness LOL.

I had alot of fun with them, but I'm done for a while...I guess I got a little burnt out. I knit 6 of the cabled scarves for one friend, and 5 for another. That's a lot.!! Oh, the other dyed scarf was sapphire blue and fifth was just natural.

Allie relapsed

For those that don't know, Allie has FSGS as a result of Nephrotic Syndrome, a chronic kidney disease. Due to lots of medicine, her kidneys are functioning as good as they are going to get, so we are trying to keep them that way. Well, a couple of weeks ago, she relapsed and we had to go into the hospital (an hour away) for 3 days of iv pulse steroid treatment. The dr increased some of her meds (including the prednisone, the drug I love to hate...keeps her on track, but changes her personality). In any case, I started knitting a cabled scarf and it was admired by her nurse.

I decided to send it to her because she took such good care of us. We had the same nurse the entire time we were there (except for 2 nights). I know I haven't posted pictures in a while, I will do that soon, I promise :)

No other news to report other than my mom has a tumor in her lymph nodes. We are awaiting test results, and she has to go for an inpatient cat scan. I pray it's nothing and benign. We are going through so many emotions during this trying time.

My stepmom also is having health issues. She was in the hospital with chest pains. Turns out it wasn't a heart attack, but they found out her arteries are really clogged, so she needs a vascular surgeon. She is a stroke waiting to happen, they said. So she is out of work (she works with little kids).

That is all, as if it isn't enough. Kids are doing good and we are waiting for our wonderful Thanksgiving feast. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays that I look forward to all year long. So, Happy Thanksgiving!!

I know it's been a while, again

I have been so busy knitting up cabled scarves, they make great gifts. They are the Irish Hiking Scarves, just google and you'll see how beautiful they are.

I had Allie in the hospital last week for 3 days of IV pulse steroid therapy. She was relapsing and her levels were all off. For those that don't know, she has a non curable kidney disease, nephrotic syndrome with FSGS (focal segmental glomulerosclerosis). She will eventually need a transplant, but we are trying to keep her kidneys functioning for as long as possible. Right now, she is as good as she is going to get.

So, that's what we've been dealing with the past week. Busy busy busy.

Craft fair coming up

There is a craft fair coming up in November. I've been knitting like crazy. I'm working on the 4th baby blanket, I knit 3 pairs of booties, a hat, a wrap kimono sweater and I sewed some blankets. I'll also be taking orders, as I can only do so much LOL. I don't have pictures yet of all that I've been doing, but I hope to get some soon. I just want to finish this blanket.

In other news, I have "Knitter's elbow" LOL. I don't think there is such a thing, but my right elbow is just killing me all the time. I had surgery on it some time ago, and most of the pain is where the incision was, so I fear I'm getting arthritis. Ugh...

The needles have been clacking

I know it's been a while since I last posted. I've been busy making the scarves, I finished a top for myself (it came out really well, considering it's the first garment I've made for myself) and now I'm working on baby blankets. I'll be posting pictures within the next few days or so.

Not knitting but totally funny!!!

My nearly 3yr old decided to cut her hair with a pair of scissors I bought for my Anna for school!! You just have to see the pics. It's not that noticeable from the front, but the side view is to die for!!

Scarves, scarves and more scarves

I've been going crazy knitting scarves for Cathy. She loved hers so much (I gave her one for Christmas last year) that she wanted me to make her more to give out as gifts. I used Patons SWS for a couple of them, Vanna's Choice for some and my wip is made with Paton's wool (I just love the natural color!). Needless to say, I've been keeping my needles a clacking and my hands a smackin' LOL.

On to the pics:

Knitting pals

I just have a bunch of girls that love knitting!!! I taught my niece, who has been with us for a bit this summer, and 3 of my girls knit, yet 2 of them are a little rusty. You have to see us on the couch knitting...it's so cool!

Here is Ashley and Angelina knitting
away (I stopped so I can take the picture LOL)

Here we go again

Here I am again...I am the owner of "the knitter within" but I can't get in. The email addy is deactivated so here we are.

I'm Barb, sahm to 6 kids, a boy and 5 girls. I have been married for 10 years and life is just peachy. I also have bipoar, so life is interesting to say the least. I have been knitting for about 4yrs, crocheting for 25. I just love knitting now, I crochet sometimes, but knitting is my passion.

Now onto the juicy stuff.

This is a dress I knit for Lainy for her kindergarten orientation. I used the pattern from "Soulful Hues and Hobbies" here on blogspot and made it into a dress. I just need to make the i cord to tie it into a bow. This is knit out of Moda Dea Metro. It was tough to work with, but I'm happy with how it came out...and Lainy is too!
